I´am so sorry, no A320 to show here!.
These company operates it´s own terminal, in walking distance from the main terminal along the First Air cargo ramp till yes, Buffalo Airways

Check-In is swiftly done by a young guy and he also cashed the money from the credit card account.
No online booking engine with Buffalo and the flight is also not listed via the usual dealers.
As simple as it is, send a mail with you´re preffered flight details and receive a nice answer not that long thereafter. Everything is secured, pay you´re ticket at the desk when you fly!.
Life isn´t cheap here in the Northern Territories, you know, the fare with this service is 115.00 Euro´s.
What means DC-3 on schedule?.
No idea, absolutely no idea!.
It seems this is the new abbreviation for the A320, or not?.
Further for a view around the facilities

I was in contact with the company by mail and informed them about our visit and our special interest and what happens soon thereafter?.
Joe, the owner himself welcomes us by handshake, ah, you are the guys from Germany and introduces some of the staff around.
He will fly us to Hay River and he also introduced the young woman doing the FO job on our flight.
And he also offered us to go early for the plane with the FO, follow her preparations and do some pictures.
Yes, that´s the way I like.
C-GWIR is an A320, sorry, my mistake, is an Douglas DC-3, ok, such a plane don´t really need an individual name!. The first adventure for me on this type.
Built in 1942 for the USAAF, spend some time with the Czech and also the French Airforce before it goes civil in the US and later on in Canada

45 minutes by "Buffalo", 18 degrees and a partly cloudy sky.
There is a young guy at work in the cabin, engineer style clothes, acting as cabin crew.
Service is cookies and free drinks.

More nice chat on the ground around the plane and we don´t even need a cab for the hotel.
No, the crew shuttle was offered to drive us together with the FO, superwell done, to the Ptarmigan Inn.
The place to spend the night is swiftly selected with simply nothing else on offer here.
Hay River or also Xátł'odehchee is located at the southern shore of the Great Slave Lake and is with as few as 3600 inhabitants the second largest community all around the Northern Territories.
The "Hub of the North" is the northernmost point in Canada and also all around the continent, connected with the
railway system and is also yearround reachable via the MacKenzie Highway from the south of Canada.
This is important with lot´s of local communities only served by iceroads during the winter time and also only to reach by plane in summer

The main street where you walk up and down within a  couple of minutes and lucky us, a convenience store is open to serve some real Canadian food, chips and coke for dinner.
And well, you are a "Persona non grata" without a pickup, without a big pickup here!

 photo CDN1301308_zps0ce9e8d1.jpg
There is some sleep to catch up, what we are doing right now, dreaming about some more reliable A320 flying tomorrow morning like this way!

 photo CDN1301324_zpsf68befc7.jpg

Do not forget the conclusions:
1.)Canadian North YEG-YZF: What an experience on these classic plane.
2.)Buffalo Airways YZF-YHY: Speechless.

Ilaanilu, take care,
the TRIPREPORTER
